During June 2010, a survey prior to development was conducted in Nahal Ziqlag (License No. S-186/2010; map ref. 180–2/589–90), prior to planting trees. The survey, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Jewish National Fund, was directed by E. Aladjem.
The survey was performed east of Highway 40, between Lehavim and Devira Junctions, along both banks of Nahal Ziqlag. There are low hills and several bedrock outcrops in the area, especially along the northern bank of the stream. No ancient remains were found.
