Early excavations and surveys conducted in the area revealed ancient remains, including tombs and a variety of hewn and built agricultural installations, dating from the Chalcolithic period to the Ottoman period (Eshed 2014, and see references therein).

Eight squares were excavated, revealing levels of pottery dating from the Iron Age to the Ottoman period. Topsoil finds lacking any architectural context include coins, one if which dates from the Crusader period, fragmentary metal objects, glassware, jewelry and animal bones (the finds were not treated due to lack of budget).
