Between November 1993 and July 1994, a salvage excavation was conducted along the eastern margins of Tef Ifshar (previously identified as Tel Ḥefer; map ref. 191532/697569; Permit No. A-2084), prior to widening Road 4. The excavation, conducted on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Department of Public Works, was directed by E. Sussman studied the oil lamps, G. Bijovsky studied the coins and K. Singer studied the bone figurine.
