During November 2008, a trial excavation was conducted at the corner of Yizhak Sade and Ha-Masger Streets in Tel Aviv (Permit No. A-5539; map ref. 17990–5/66360–6), after two patches of dark soil were identified while exposing the area (L. Rauchberger and A. Glick), prior to widening the street. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality, was directed by T. Kanias, with the assistance of E. Bachar (administration), A. Hajian (surveying and drafting), T. Sagiv (field photography), M. Shuiskaya (pottery drawing) and R. Gophna (scientific consultation).
