In June 2013, a trial excavation was conducted alongside Khirbat el-Qabra near Karmi’el (Permit No. A-6832; map ref. 226414–51/758557–92), after a section of an ancient road was discovered while working on the ‘Akko–Karmi’el railroad. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, was directed by R. Abu Raya (photography), with the assistance of Y. Ya‘aqobi (administration), W. Atrash (scientific guidance), R. Mishayev and M. Kahan (surveying and drafting), Y. Lerer (GPS) and laborers from Majd al-Krum.
