Mamluk Period. In the northern square, a layer of small stones was discovered (L109; thickness 0.35 m; Figs. 3, 4). In the section cut through the stone layer (L111), pottery sherds dating to the Mamluk period were found, including bowls and kraters (Fig. 5:2, 4, 5).
In the southern square, two walls built of fieldstones, were found (W103, W106; Fig. 6). At the western end of W106 a large rectangular stone was discovered (0.33 × 0.55 m, 0.18 m height), perhaps a remnant of an overlying upper course. West of W103, an occupation layer was exposed (L112; Fig. 7). In the section cut through Layer 112 (L113), an imported Egyptian bowl (Fig. 5:3) and a cooking pot (Fig. 5:6), dating to the Mamluk period, were unearthed. The walls and the occupation layer extended beyond the boundaries of the excavation. Sherds from the Mamluk period, including a bowl (Fig. 5:1) and a jug (Fig. 5:7), were also found in the upper layer (L104; Fig. 3: Section 1–1; see below). East of W103, a Mamluk coin (IAA 168179), dating to the late fourteenth–early fifteenth centuries CE, was found.

Ottoman Period. In the northern square, an accumulation layer (L101, L105), exposed overlying the Mamluk-period stone layer, contained Ottoman period sherds, including bowls (Fig. 8:2, 3), a jar (Fig. 8:6), and a jug (Fig. 8:7). A tobacco pipe (Fig. 8:9), with brown-reddish slip and burnished, dating to the eighteenth century, was also unearthed. The pipe had a short shank (diam. 1.3 cm) secured at the end with a ring, triangular in section, above which was a plain termination ring. Most of the spherical bowl of the pipe was not extant.
In the southern square, in the accumulation layer (L107) overlying the Mamluk-period occupation layer (L112), sherds from the Ottoman period were found, including jars (Fig. 8:5, 6) and a tobacco pipe from the eighteenth century, slipped light brown and burnished, with a short shank (diam. 1 cm) secured at the end with a ring framed by a rouletted line, above which was a plain termination ring (Fig. 8:8). East of W103, (L104; Fig. 3: Section 1–1), sherds, including bowls, were found (Fig. 8:1, 4). Animal bones, including scapulae and jawbones of sheep, were also found in Accumulation 107.
Three coins dating to the Ottoman period, were found. In occupation layer (L112), west of W103, a coin dating to the seventeenth century was found (IAA 168180). Two coins were found east of W103: one from the reign of Sultan Murad III (1546–1595; IAA 168178), and the other from the seventeenth century CE (IAA 1687).
