The survey area is located c. 1 km south of Giv‘at Avni and c. 2 km northeast of Sede Ilan (Fig. 1). Numerous and varied archaeological finds were discovered, including farming terraces, knapping piles, quarrying pits, flint outcrops, a basalt quarry and probably also architectural remains (Fig. 2).
Agricultural Complex (map ref. 24111–5/74138–9; Figs. 3–5). The complex is extensive and includes many farming terraces, aligned east–west, which are divided into plots by walls oriented north–south. Many flint items were found on some of the terraces; these are probably the remains of knapping piles that had been destroyed and integrated in the farming terraces at the time of their construction.
Knapping Piles (map ref. 24130–79/74110–40; Fig. 6–8). An area with several piles that are indicative of flint knapping was preserved at the northeastern end of the survey area. Flint fragments, flaked items and cores were discovered on the knapping piles. Most of the cores have no definitive shape or have one striking platform, and it is impossible to ascribe them to a specific period. Levallois cores and flakes that are characteristic of the Middle Paleolithic period (250,000–40,000 YBP) were found in several of the piles. Furthermore, fragments of pottery vessels, possibly from the Chalcolithic period, and a fan scraper (?) that might indicate flint bulbs were also used in later periods, were found on the piles.
Quarrying Pits (map ref. 24123–40/74000–139; Fig. 9). More than forty pits (diam. 2–10 m) were found. Presumably, the pits are indicative of flint mining; however, there is also the possibility that some pits are military positions dug during the War of Independence in 1948.
Flint Outcrops (map ref. 24130–45/74136–80; Figs. 10, 11). Limestone outcrops were found along geological faults. Flint bulbs remained in some of them and in others pits and cupmarks were discerned, indicating the extraction of the flint bulbs.
Architectural Remains (map ref. 24085–135/74123–35; Figs. 12, 13). Remains of buildings (?) were found inside stone heaps in the western part of the site.
Basalt Quarry (map ref. 24113–8/74130–2; Fig. 14). A basalt outcrop with evidence of quarrying was found in the northwest of the survey area. Industrial debitage, including basalt fragments and flakes, was found; yet no tools were discovered in a preliminary inspection.

A high concentration of flint items (more than fifty items per sq m) was found in the vicinity of the quarrying pits and flint outcrops.
