Extended report
In December 2010 and January 2011, a trial excavation was carried out near Nahalal Junction, within the boundaries of Tel Shimron West (Permit No. A-6060; map ref. 21925–60/73410–20), prior to widening Road 75. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Netivei Israel – National Transport Infrastructure Company, was directed by Y. Alexandre. M. Shemer studied the flint items, and N. Agha studied the archaeozoological finds. The excavation yielded the remains of a Middle Bronze rural settlement, probably from the transitional MB I–II period, meager remains of an Intermediate Bronze settlement and fins indicating human presence during earlier periods at the site.
