In January 2018, a salvage excavation was conducted in Modi‘in, south of Horbat Zekharya (Permit No. A-8194; map ref. 197537–751/647346–527; Fig. 1), prior to development. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by Mega Or, was directed by O. Danziger, with the assistance of Y. Amrani (administration), J. Shmidov (surveying and drafting), A. Peretz (field photography), A. Azab and I. Korenfeld.
The excavation was conducted on a hillslope south of Horbat Zakharya (Shachar 2017). A rock-hewn winepress, perhaps a poorly preserved Bodeda, was exposed; it included a treading floor (L113; Fig. 2) and a collecting vat (L112). In addition, a hewn cupmark, a stone-clearance heap and seven retaining walls of agricultural terraces (length 13–70 m, width 0.7–1.0 m; Fig. 3), built of medium-sized fieldstones and preserved one course high, were uncovered.
