In July 2016, a salvage excavation was conducted to the east of Tirat Karmel (map ref. 198529–555/740608–626; Permit No. A-7769), prior to the construction of a hotel. The excavation, conducted on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by Shatit Co., was directed by A.S. Sa‘id. Y. Gorin-Rosen studied the glass finds. The excavation uncovered two rock-cut burial caves dated to the Late Roman–early Byzantine periods.
