Four squares (1–4; Figs. 1, 2) were excavated, yielding building remains from the Mamluk or Ottoman period. A wall (W111) built of two rows of dressed kurkar stones and preserved up to two courses high was exposed in Square 1; it was founded on a leveled rock outcrop. A leveled layer of soil (L106) which abuts the wall on the east contained several potsherds dating from the fifteenth–seventeenth centuries CE (not drawn). In Square 2, two adjacent walls (W112, W115) were exposed; They were built like W111 and were preserved one course high. Square 3 was found filled with earth mixed with potsherds down to the bedrock. A wall (W201) built of kurkar fieldstones was exposed in Sq 4. It was cut by a Wall (W113; Fig. 3) built perpendicular to another wall (W114); the construction of both walls was similar to that of the walls in Sqs 1 and 2. A leveled layer of soil (L108) containing several potsherds that probably date from the fifteenth–seventeenth centuries CE (not drawn) abutted Walls 113 and 114.
